Frequently Asked Questions

How is the wallet card meant to be folded?

Print double-sided on letter paper. The 4 front panels print on one side, the 4 back panels on the other. Cut the page into a 4-panel strip, then fold in half twice (or accordion-fold) so it sits in a wallet, glove box, or carrier sleeve. Lamination at any office store is roughly 2 dollars and protects against water and tearing.

Why is a microchip number on the card if the chip stays with the pet?

The chip is the most reliable reunification path, but you also use the number directly: when reporting the pet as lost, when a finder calls before reaching a vet to scan the chip, and at shelter intake. Having the number on the card means you can give it over the phone in a panic without scrambling for the chip-company portal login.

What goes in the photo slot?

A clear, recent color photo of the pet with you in frame. The pet alone is fine for identification; the pet plus you establishes ownership when a finder asks for proof. Trim the photo to fit the slot and tape or staple it in place. Replace annually or after any major appearance change (haircut, weight change, new collar).

How often should I update the card?

Annual review at minimum, plus an immediate update after any phone change, address change, vet change, medication change, or microchip-company change. Cross out and re-enter on the same card if you laminated; reprint and re-laminate if too many fields have changed. Set a calendar reminder for the same week as the pet’s annual vet visit.
