How to use this test
View each solid color carefully and scan the entire display. A dead pixel may remain black, while a stuck pixel may remain red, green, blue, or another color when the background changes.
What to look for
- Black dots on light backgrounds
- Bright dots on dark backgrounds
- Pixels that stay red, green, or blue
- Dim areas or unusual color patches
- Small spots that do not change as colors cycle
Common mistakes
- Skipping fullscreen. The address bar and window chrome hide the screen edges. Enter fullscreen so you can inspect the whole panel, corners included.
- Testing at low brightness. Dim or weakly stuck pixels and backlight bleed are easy to miss. Raise brightness to full before scanning.
- Confusing dust with dead pixels. Wipe the screen with a dry microfiber cloth first. A speck that moves or wipes away is dirt, not a pixel fault.
- Checking only one color. A stuck pixel can blend into some backgrounds. Cycle through black, white, red, green, and blue so nothing hides.
- Viewing off-axis. Look straight at the screen. On some panels an angled view shifts color and can mask or fake a fault.
