About PickShack
A working set of free calculators, guides, and printables for real-life planning across eight everyday topics.
What PickShack is
PickShack exists for a simple reason. Every time you need a quick practical answer (how much fuel to store, what size generator, how much soil for a raised bed, when to plant), the web buries it under blogspam, popups, and 2,000-word essays designed to keep you scrolling.
PickShack does the opposite. It collects the answers and the math directly: a working set of practical calculators, guides, and printables across eight everyday topics. Every tool runs in your browser, every guide gets to the point, and every printable is one page that actually prints. Everything is free, no account required.
If a question comes up that needs the same math twice, the goal is to build a tool for it.
What you will find here
PickShack is organized around eight everyday topics, each with its own hub of tools, guides, and printables:
- Household: home improvement and repair, energy and power, home security, maintenance.
- Vehicle: ownership and costs, maintenance and tires, travel and towing.
- Yard & Garden: planting and growing, soil, watering, harvest.
- Cooking: grilling and smoking, food safety.
- Preparedness: kits and bags, food and water, backup power and fuel, plans and communication.
- Tech: networking, power and charging, devices.
- Health: first aid, fitness and wellness, medication.
- Money: budgeting, debt and saving.
Some pages calculate exact numbers (how many gallons of water for your household, what size generator your home needs, how much soil to fill a raised bed). Others compare options, explain the basics in a few minutes, or print as one-page checklists you can keep on a clipboard or fridge.
Built for real-world problems
Whether you are sizing a generator, planning a garden, estimating materials, or organizing emergency supplies, PickShack starts with the question you actually came in with and gives you an answer you can act on.
Fast, simple, and out of your way
No popups. No signup walls. No premium tier. Every tool loads quickly and runs entirely in your browser. The interface gets out of the way so you can do the math, print the checklist, and move on.
