Privacy Policy

The short version

PickShack does not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. There are no accounts, no signup walls, and no popup overlays. The calculators on this site run entirely in your browser, which means the numbers you type into a tool never leave your device unless you submit a form yourself. The site does load lightweight analytics from Google and Microsoft to understand which pages are useful, and uses your browser's local storage to remember inputs across tools so you don't have to retype them. You can opt out of both, and the controls are listed below.

Information PickShack collects

Information you provide voluntarily

PickShack only receives personal information when you choose to send it. There are three places where that can happen:

• The Suggest a Tool form, which asks for an optional name and email so a follow-up is possible if your idea gets built. Submissions are routed through FormSubmit.co to ideas@pickshack.com.
• The Contact page, which lists email addresses (hello@pickshack.com, business@pickshack.com) you can choose to write to.
• The "Report a Bug" link in the footer, which opens a prefilled message in your mail client to bugs@pickshack.com. The prefilled body includes the page URL, your browser version, and your viewport size — you see exactly what is being sent before you press send, and you can edit or cancel.

Automatic data (analytics)

Every page on PickShack loads two analytics services: Google Analytics 4 for aggregate traffic data, and Microsoft Clarity for anonymized session replays and heatmaps. Both record general device and browser information, the pages you visit, scroll depth, dwell time, and a small set of custom engagement events (for example, that you submitted a calculator). Neither service receives the numbers you type into calculators — that data stays in your browser. Clarity automatically masks input field contents in its recordings.

These services use cookies and local storage to maintain a per-visit session ID. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are set by PickShack itself.

Calculator inputs and shared-input memory

PickShack uses your browser's local storage to remember a small set of inputs across tools — for example, if you enter a trip distance on the fuel cost calculator and then navigate to the trip-time calculator, the distance is pre-filled for you. This data is stored only on your device, only by your browser, and is never sent to PickShack or anyone else. You can clear it any time by clicking "Clear remembered values" in the footer, or by clearing site data for pickshack.com in your browser settings.

Cookies and local storage

The site uses a small number of cookies and browser-storage items, all in one of three categories:

• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) — used to understand site usage in aggregate. Set by the analytics scripts when they load.
• Functional local storage — used to remember calculator inputs across tools, as described above. Stored under the key pickshack-shared-inputs-v1.
• No advertising cookies. PickShack does not run ads and does not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking.

Third-party services

PickShack uses a small number of third-party services to operate the site. Each operates under its own privacy policy:

• Google Analytics 4 — aggregate traffic analytics. Google Privacy Policy.
• Microsoft Clarity — anonymized session replays and heatmaps. Microsoft Privacy Statement. Clarity masks input fields by default.
• FormSubmit.co — routes the Suggest a Tool form to email. Used only when you actively submit that form. FormSubmit.
• IndexNow (Microsoft / Bing) — receives a notification when content is updated, so search engines can re-crawl. No visitor data is sent.
• Etsy — outbound links to PickShack's Etsy shop for premium spreadsheets. When you click an Etsy link, Etsy's own privacy policy applies.

How to opt out

If you do not want Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity to record your visits, you have several options:

• Browser-level controls. Enable "Do Not Track" or block third-party cookies in your browser settings. Most modern browsers also offer per-site permission controls (Safari Intelligent Tracking Prevention, Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection, Brave Shields, etc.) that block analytics by default.
• Google Analytics opt-out. Install the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• Microsoft Clarity opt-out. Clarity respects the browser's Do Not Track header. You can also block *.clarity.ms via a content blocker.
• Clear remembered values. Use the "Clear remembered values" link in the footer to remove all PickShack local-storage data, or clear site data for pickshack.com in your browser settings.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under PIPEDA (Canada), the GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), or other privacy laws — including the right to know what data is held about you, to request a copy, to ask for it to be deleted, and to opt out of "sale" of personal information. PickShack does not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@pickshack.com with the subject line "Privacy request" and a brief description of what you need. We will respond within 30 days.

Data security

Reasonable steps are taken to protect any information collected — the site runs over HTTPS, no payment data is processed on PickShack itself, and submission endpoints are limited to the few listed above. No method of transmission or storage over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, however. If you find a vulnerability, please report it to security@pickshack.com (see security.txt).

Children

PickShack is a general-audience tools site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through one of our forms, email hello@pickshack.com and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the current version.
